Accommodations for Testing

Blue Ridge CTC supports every individuals’ will to achieve academic excellence. Request test accommodations to successfully take the exam regardless of any recognized disability or challenge and demonstrate skills and knowledge you have learned.

Testing Accommodations

Testing with accommodations means any modifications made to the tests or testing environment that allow students the ability to demonstrate their knowledge and skills in a testing situation.

Requesting Testing Accommodations

If you require an accommodation for testing, a Letter of Accommodation must be on file with OAS Student Access Coordinator before any testing accommodations will be provided.

Scheduling A Faculty Proctored Exam

For your convenience, testing candidates can now register for all exams online through RegisterBlast®. Students must schedule their testing appointment on RegisterBlast ® at least 24 hours prior to the day of the test.

All test candidates must complete the online registration through RegisterBlast to schedule a test date.

  • Select your test from the group.
  • Choose your exam.
  • Select an exam date and time.
  • Enter your personal information.
  • Submit payment for any necessary fees. (Note: Testing fees vary based upon exam type)
  • Select the Ready to Checkout to confirm your test.

Instructors must submit your exam via RegisterBlast® one week in advance.

Scheduling All Other Exams

All other Accommodation Testing, such as TEAS®, PRAXIS®, Pearson Vue®, Certiport® etc., are administered at the Testing Center. Test candidates must still first apply for accommodations through the Student Access Coordinator, who will then send over the Accommodations paperwork to the Testing Center Coordinator.

Be advised testing platforms such as TEAS®, PRAXIS®, Pearson Vue®, and Certiport® require accommodation approval either through the testing platform or your instructor prior to test registration.

Scheduling A Praxis® Or Pearson Vue® Exam

** This requires accommodation approval through the Testing Platform prior to test registration.

All Praxis® and Pearson Vue® exams for Blue Ridge CTC students should be scheduled through your individual instructors. Payments and/or vouchers are issued through the instructors. Please follow your instructors’ guidelines for registering for these exams.

Testing Center Guidelines

  • Schedule an appointment using the online system. (Space is limited)
  • Photo identification is required for all testing. Acceptable forms of photo identification include: Current college student ID, Current driver’s license, State-approved ID, Current state or federal ID card, Current passport or passport card, Tribal ID card, or Naturalization card.
  • All exams must be completed in one sitting.
  • All personal items will be securely stored.
    • All cell phones, smartwatches, and any other electronic devices will be turned off and stored
    • All hats, caps, scarves, and coats will be removed and stored
    • All watches, jewelry more than ¼ inch
  • May not leave the Testing Center without permission of the Testing Staff once testing has begun
  • Food (including gum) and drink are not permitted in the Testing Center and/or testing rooms unless otherwise permitted.
  • Students may not access his/her personal belongings without permission once testing has begun.
  • If a break is permitted during testing, the student may not access his/her cell phone or any other electronic devices.
  • No children are allowed in the testing center.
