Reporting Protocol

Blue Ridge Community and Technical College in consultation with appropriate agencies has developed the following reporting protocol for confirmed positive COVID19 individuals or in cases of voluntary quarantine without positive test.

COVID Exposure Determination Memo

  1. Student or Employee notify designated person:
    • Students: MK Francisco, Student Development Coordinator
    • Employees: Morgan Gower, Director of Human Resources
    • If student or employees notifies course faculty or supervisor, the faculty or supervisor should refer said person to the appropriate designated person. The College asks that reporting person also relay the information to ensure reporting is completed.
    • Persons may be notified to self-quarantine due to exposure and are not positive COVID19. Protocol will follow same guidelines.
  2. Designated Personnel will obtain the following information:
    • Blue Ridge C# and Name
    • State of Residence
    • Last time physically on campus
    • Date of confirmed positive test
    • Dates of isolation or quarantine
    • Hospitalization or Death as result of positive COVID19
    • Leslie See is the College contact for the local health departments and will relay or receive information pertaining to contact/exposure. The local health department determines and notifies exposures.
  3. Designated Personnel will update COVID data sheet and notify Leslie See
    • The College reports information weekly to the WVCTCS/HEPC.
  4. Designated Personnel will reach out periodically to check on wellbeing and report to Leslie See:
    • Any hospitalization or death due to COVID19
    • Arrange with faculty or supervisor any accommodations or arrangements as necessary.
    • Obtain written medical release to return to class or employment
      1. Medical release may occur with a continued positive test. Student or Employee may return to work with written release.  However, student in clinical environments will need to work with Blue Ridge program clinical coordinator to meet clinical sites protocol for return.
      2. Written release will be on physician or health department letterhead and sent directly to the designated personnel.
