What You Will Learn - Curriculum Overview

With the Environmental Science Technician certificate program, students receive hands-on instructions from certified industry experts about the essentials of environmental science.

Students learn core concepts in the environmental science field such as geographic information systems, introduction to safety, industrial hygiene, the laboratory technician (I and III), introduction to OSHA and EPA, wastewater operator, and more. Learning outcomes include:

    • Describe various interactions between chemical, physical, and biological principles in human-environmental interactions.
    • Identify hazardous substances in the workplace and control exposure to them.
    • Describe the OSHA or EPA requirements linked with inspection, fire, and chemical exposure.
    • Master concepts to become a Class I Water Operator or Class I Wastewater Operator.
