Blue Ridge Community and Technical College takes the safety and security of our students very seriously. We offer various services to ensure the safest, most secure campus possible. We offer campus security in case of public disruptions, disorderly and dangerous conduct. If you should ever feel the need for security, please feel free to call the Blue Ridge Community and Technical College Security Office Desk at 304-260-4380 ext. 2250. If at any time you do not feel safe, a security guard will be available to walk you to your car. While we take great measures to create a safe campus environment, in the event that you feel the need to call 9-1-1, we encourage you to do so. In compliance with the Clery Act, review the most recent crime report (Campus Safety and Security Survey).
Blue Ridge CTC’s 2022 Annual Security Report is available. This report is required by federal law and contains policy statements and crime statistics for the school. The policy statements address the school’s policies, procedures and programs concerning safety and security, for example, policies for responding to emergency situations and sexual offenses. Three years’ worth of statistics are included for certain types of crimes that were reported to have occurred on campus, in or on off-campus buildings or property owned or controlled by the school and on public property within or immediately adjacent to the campus.

Blue Ridge Community and Technical College is excited to offer E2Campus, our emergency alert system to students and employees. This system will notify you by email and/or text message for important information, such as school closing or other emergency situations. While it is your choice whether or not to participate, we highly encourage you to opt in so you can be notified of emergency announcements as soon as possible.

Inclement Weather Policy
In the event of inclement weather or other emergency, Blue Ridge Community and Technical College will post the announcement to the College website and telephone the media as early as possible (presumably 6:30 am) with the official College weather-related statement. If a delay is necessary, classes will begin at 11:00 am. If the College is operating on a delayed opening of 11:00 am and the weather worsens, the decision to close will be posted announced by 9:00 am. In the event of an emergency evacuation, there are several different exits available to quickly exit the building. When evacuating, please use the emergency exit closest to your location. Below are several helpful diagrams that outline the exits at the main campus and tech center. Students, Faculty and Staff are encouraged to review the evacuation plan for each location to ensure safety and expediency during an evacuation.
