The Associate of Applied Science in Health Sciences costs less than a bachelor’s degree and takes about two years to complete. The degree provides hands-on practice on state-of-the-art medical equipment, skills to work with patients in a cooperative environment, and the knowledge required to qualify for the state licensure exam. The degree provides a foundation to make or advance a career within allied healthcare or caregiving professions or plan towards the undergraduate programs.
Blue Ridge CTC’s associate degree programs in Health Science require 60 credits, which takes about 2 years to complete when enrolled as a full-time student.
Students can apply for the following Health Science degree programs at Blue Ridge Community and Technical College:
  • Associate Degree in Healthcare Professions
  • Associate Degree Medical Assisting: Medical Assisting Foundation
  • Associate Degree of Medical Assisting: Nursing Foundation,
  • Associate Degree in Nursing

Health Science associate degree programs do not require ACT or SAT scores to qualify for admission. Students may need ACT or SAT scores, or free placement testing to qualify for courses such as English, Math, or Chemistry. Placement testing can be scheduled at any time during the application process.
Admission requirements include a high school diploma or equivalent and a complete application packet. Students who have earned credits at other Colleges or Universities must also provide official copies of those transcripts. There is also a $25 application fee that can be paid at any time once an application is submitted.
