HLC Accreditation Notice
Blue Ridge Community and Technical College is seeking comments from the public about the College in preparation for its periodic evaluation by its regional accrediting agency. The College will host a visit March 30 and 31, 2020, with a team representing the Higher Learning Commission (HLC). Blue Ridge Community and Technical College has been accredited by HLC since 2005. The team will review the institution’s ongoing ability to meet HLC’s Criteria for Accreditation.

Blue Ridge Community and Technical College was independently accredited by the Higher Learning Commission in February 2005. The College, which had held the name of the Community and Technical College (CTC) of Shepherd, was officially renamed Blue Ridge Community and Technical College on July 1, 2006. Blue Ridge Community and Technical College has since received reaffirmation of accreditation in 2010 and most recently in 2015.
The Higher Learning Commission (HLC) is an independent corporation, which was founded in 1895 as one of six regional institutional accreditors in the United States. The Higher Learning Commission accredits, and thereby grants membership in the Commission, to degree-granting educational institutions in the North Central region: Arkansas, Arizona, Colorado, Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, North Dakota, Nebraska, Ohio, Oklahoma, New Mexico, South Dakota, Wisconsin, West Virginia, and Wyoming.

Emergency Medical Services Accreditation
The Blue Ridge Community and Technical College’s Paramedic Program is Accredited by the Committee on Accreditation of EMS Programs as part of the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs.
It is through the assistance of the “Committee on Accreditation of Educational Programs for the Emergency Medical Services Professions” (www.coaemsp.org) that the “Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs” (http://www.coaemsp.org/) grants our accreditation.

Health Information Management
The Health Information Management accreditor of Blue Ridge Community and Technical College is the Commission on Accreditation for Health Informatics and Information Management Education (CAHIIM). The College’s accreditation for the associate degree in Health Information Management has been reaffirmed through 2029-2030.

Blue Ridge Community and Technical College wishes to announce that it will host a site visit for continuing accreditation of its Associate of Science in Nursing program by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN). You are invited to meet with the site visit team and share your comments about the program in person at a meeting scheduled at
2pm-3pm on February 26, 2020 in room 3300 of our main campus located at 13650 Apple Harvest Drive, Martinsburg, WV.
