Martinsburg, WV. Blue Ridge Community and Technical College Board of Governors met in person with a virtual Zoom option on Wednesday, October 2, 2024.
The meeting was called to order at 12:08pm by Board Chair, Ms. Stephanie Harvey.
Ms. Harvey continued with the approval of the August meeting minutes.
Dr. Checkovich presented the President’s Report, highlighting recent media articles pertaining to the Institution.
Dr. Ann Shipway, Vice President of Workforce and Engineering Technologies presented the Workforce report. Dr. Shipway provided an overview of the recent Veterinary Technology accreditation process. Dr. Shipway noted that the College was officially approved for accreditation. Dr. Shipway continued with grant programming updates.
Dr. Shipway concluded her report with an overview of the White House Challenge, an effort to fight the substance abuse epidemic in America.
Ms. Leslie See, Vice President of Enrollment and Allied Health, presented the enrollment report. Ms. See highlighted strong unofficial fall enrollment.
Ms. Laura Busey, Chief Academic Officer, presented academic updates. Ms. Busey presented an update on micro credentials at the College. Ms. Busey concluded her report with the HLC assessment academy.
Mr. Phil Fowler, Vice President of Information Technology, presented the Information Technology report. Mr. Fowler highlighted Cyber Security awareness month and the steps the College has taken to mitigate risks at the College.
Dr. Craig Miller, Chief Financial Officer presented the Finance report. Dr. Miller introduced Ms. Kristi Scarlata, Comptroller, who provided an overview of financial performance as of June 30, 2024.
Executive session was held. No public vote was made.
The meeting adjourned at 1:44 p.m.
