Blue Ridge Community and Technical College proudly hosted its Spring 2026 Student Awards Ceremony, recognizing outstanding student achievement across its academic programs. Dr. Peter Checkovich served as Master of Ceremonies for the event, which is held at the conclusion of each semester to celebrate exceptional students within their degree programs.
This semester’s ceremony honored 26 students. From that distinguished group, three students — one representing each school — were selected as the institution’s overall outstanding students. This year’s honorees are Anna Clark, School of Allied Health; Christyn Avery, School of Professional Studies and University Transfer; and Liam Barney, School of Workforce and Engineering Technologies.

Students are nominated for a variety of reasons, including academic excellence, leadership, integrity, perseverance, collaboration, and overcoming personal challenges while pursuing their degree.
“The Student Awards Ceremony highlights the best of Blue Ridge CTC,” said Dr. Checkovich. “It is always my joy to celebrate our students’ achievements despite the challenges many have faced along the way. We pride ourselves on career and technical training, and time and again these nominated students are recognized not only for academic success, but for the soft skills that will carry them far in their careers.”
