The curriculum for our Education degree program includes history about the education system and teaching as a profession. Students build vital professional skills including effective oral, written, critical thinking and problem solving. At the end of the program, students are prepared to take the first round of Praxis examinations necessary to continue pursuing a career as a K-12 educator. Upon successful completion of the program, students take advantage of transfer agreements that allow students to complete their education at a four-year school.

The Blue Ridge CTC associate degree in Education is designed to be a direct transfer program for individuals pursuing careers as K-12 educators. A four-year degree is necessary to satisfy the requirements to become a teacher. Our program saves students money by taking advantage of our affordable tuition and established transfer pathways to continue to a four-year school after graduation. At the end of two years, students sit for the first half of the Praxis Examinations prior to transfer.
