This program is designed for students who intend to apply to the Blue Ridge CTC Nursing program, but first must meet the required prerequisites.

Blue Ridge CTC’s associate degree program in Medical Assisting: Nursing Foundation equips students with knowledge and practical skills for patient care through laboratory and externship experiences. Students enroll in this program to prepare to apply to the Blue Ridge CTC Nursing Program or earn a credential as a Medical Assistant.
Throughout this associate degree program in Medical Assisting: Nursing Foundation, students learn clinical and non-clinical components under the direction of real physicians. This program is designed for students who are planning to make application to the Blue Ridge CTC Nursing program. For students who do not continue with Nursing, this program provides a pathway as a Medical Assistant.
According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, an 18% increase in medical assisting occupations is expected for the next 10 years. This two-year degree can help in the preparation of state licensure exams to plan pathways to employment options as a medical assistant, nursing assistant, health information technician, pharmacy technician, etc.
