Martinsburg, WV. August 23, 2024 – Blue Ridge Community and Technical College (BRCTC) is pleased to announce Valley Health’s contribution of $25,000 for the enhancement of its Simulation Lab, a vital component of the Allied Health division. This investment aims to provide students with state-of-the-art equipment and facilities to support their education and training in healthcare.
The Simulation Lab plays a crucial role in preparing future healthcare professionals, including Medical Assistants, Paramedics, and Registered Nurses, who are urgently needed to serve patients in our community. Valley Health, as one of the largest employers in the area, recognizes the importance of fostering local talent and hopes that these students will consider pursuing careers within our healthcare system.
“I was privileged to see first-hand how the College has used the Valley Health funds to provide the best equipment for the Health Sciences programs,” said Fay Shadley-Mullin, BS MLS, Program Manager at Valley Health. “It was a pleasure to witness the high-quality instruction taking place in the SIMS lab with the modern equipment Valley Health provided for the students.”
The funds provided by Valley Health were used to purchase a medication dispensing system which will prepare students with the tactile and technological skills to use medication dispensing systems in the hospital setting. In addition, many necessary updates to the simulation patients were completed. This technology allows students to practice clinical skills in a controlled environment, enhancing their competence and confidence before entering clinical settings.
Blue Ridge CTC is committed to delivering excellence in Allied Health education, and partnerships with community stakeholders like Valley Health are essential to achieving this goal. The college extends its gratitude to Valley Health for its generous support and looks forward to continued collaboration in preparing the next generation of healthcare professionals.
