Whether you are a new student or continuing education after a gap or facing some special circumstances, BRCTC offers financial aid grants to pay for college and achieve career goals.
New Students
As a new student, you are eligible for a number of financial aid grants offered at BRCTC.
Returning Students
Continuing education can be more accessible with Blue Ridge CTC’s financial aid grants.
Grants and scholarships are often called “gifts” because they are free money—financial aid that doesn’t have to be repaid. Grants are often based on financial needs.

Federal Pell Grant
Pell Grants are awarded usually only to undergraduate students who have not earned a bachelor’s or a professional degree. (In some cases, however, a student enrolled in a post-baccalaureate teacher certification program might receive a Pell Grant.) Pell Grants are considered a foundation of federal financial aid, to which aid from other federal and nonfederal sources might be added. Learn about the Pell Grant.
Federal SEOG
The Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant (FSEOG) program is for undergraduates with exceptional financial need. Pell Grant recipients with the lowest expected family contributions will be considered first for a FSEOG. Just like Pell Grants, FSEOG does not have to be repaid. HEAPS Grant
The Higher Education Adult Part-Time Student Grant Program enables West Virginia students that demonstrate financial need to continue their education on a part-time basis at the post-secondary level. Are you eligible for aid? Learn more about the HEAPS grant.
West Virginia Higher Education Grant
This grant ensures that West Virginia students with financial needs are given an opportunity to pursue a college education. The grant may be renewed until the student’s course of study is completed, but may not exceed an additional three academic years beyond the initial award. Awards are based on demonstrated financial need and generally may be used in conjunction with other forms of state, federal, and institutional financial aid. West Virginia Invests Grant
West Virginia Invests is a state-funded grant program that covers the full cost of basic tuition and fees* for select certificate and associate degree programs at a West Virginia public two- or four-year institution. Priority is given to programs in high-demand fields, such as information technology or healthcare, as determined by the West Virginia Department of Commerce. This is a last-dollar-in program, meaning that it will pay for any amount up to the total cost of tuition and fees that isn’t already covered by other state or federal grants or scholarships. This program is managed by the West Virginia Council for Community and Technical College System. Learn more about the application requirements. *The maximum award amount is limited to the total cost of basic tuition and fees charged to all students, regardless of program, minus other grant or scholarship aid. Certain programs charge additional fees to cover equipment and supply costs and other necessary expenses. These fees, along with the cost of textbooks and other course materials, must be paid by the student if other forms of financial aid are not available to offset these costs.
