Chapter 30: Montgomery GI Bill® for Active Duty (for Veteran/Active Duty)
For individuals who have served on active duty and elected to use this program (generally instead of Chapter 33).

For Veterans who paid into VEAP while in the service. Eligible Veterans may receive up to 36 months of training. Eligibility usually end 10 years after service, although it can be longer.

The My Career Advancement Account Scholarship Program (MyCAA)
The My Career Advancement Account Scholarship is a workforce development program that provides up to $4,000 in financial assistance to eligible military spouses for the pursuit or maintenance (including continuing education courses) of a license, certification, or associate’s degree necessary to gain employment in an occupation or career field.

Shumaker Family Scholarship
Purpose:
The Shumaker Family Scholarship was established in November 2023 to serve Veterans and Active-Duty Military Personnel enrolled in a Business or IT degree. The total scholarship award is up to $4,000.00 per academic year. The award is disbursed equally in the Fall and Spring semesters. Apply for the Scholarship through the Foundation Office .
Criteria for Selection:
Residency
Blue Ridge Community Technical College policy allows Veterans and Active-Duty Military Personnel residing outside of West Virginia to be eligible for in-state tuition. Students should contact the Veteran Services Office for in-state tuition rate. The residency policy allows veterans and current military service members residing outside of West Virginia to be eligible for in-state tuition. If you are a dependent of a veteran or service member attending Blue Ridge Community and Technical College under any VA Education benefit (i.e. Chapter 33, Chapter 35, MyCAA), you are also eligible for in-state tuition.
Priority Registration
Veterans, military, and dependent students are given the opportunity to register for classes early.
Recognition at Commencement
Blue Ridge CTC recognizes Veterans, military, and dependent students with special cords presented to students to wear at graduation.
Student Veterans of America
Join the Student Veterans of America (SVA) and participate in fun events and activities all year long.
Resource Center
Veterans now have access to a resource center, which is available in room 2106 on the Main Campus. Refer to the schedule outside the classroom for availability.
