Blue Ridge CTC acknowledges that the college has signed and returned the certification agreement form and intends to use at least 50% of the funds in the form of emergency financial aid grants to students.
The total amount of funds that the institution will receive, or has received under the HEERF student portion is $592,798. As of December 22, 2020, Blue Ridge CTC has distributed $592,798 to students.
Blue Ridge CTC estimates that 1593 students could be eligible for emergency financial aid grants. As of December 31, 2020, 769 students have received funds from the emergency financial aid grant.
Blue Ridge CTC first awarded emergency grants to students who experienced the greatest disruption to their on-campus courses. The students enrolled in deferred courses were awarded funds based on their enrollment level. All students were then invited to apply for the emergency financial aid grants by submitting an online application.
Blue Ridge CTC used the remaining student portion of the HEERF funds to award $199,206 to all-degree seeking students that were enrolled for the summer 2020 term. All summer 2020 classes have been moved to an online format. With the ongoing pandemic, the BRCTC campus has remained closed to the public, public libraries have remained closed, and previous free resources for the internet have now expired. With that in mind, Blue Ridge CTC opted to award the remaining amount of CARES funds to all of our degree-seeking students; 434 students were eligible for this funding.
Blue Ridge CTC has maintained this webpage, dedicated to FAQs and guidance provided by the Department of Education to address the emergency financial aid grants. All applicants received an email addressing the timeframe and what to expect. Blue Ridge CTC has also provided community resources and job information to all applicants.

Blue Ridge CTC has continued an online format for classes due to the ongoing effects of the COVID-19 pandemic. Students have incurred expenses due to the online class platform. With that in mind, Blue Ridge CTC opted to award the amount of online delivery fees back to the students while awarding additional funds to students who are eligible for the Federal Pell Grant based on their Estimated Family Contribution (EFC).
Blue Ridge CTC estimates that 1714 students may have been eligible for CRRSAA funds. Blue Ridge CTC determined that 1533 students were eligible for emergency funding due to enrollment status (greater than 1 credit hour) and citizenship status. 713 students were also Pell eligible and received an additional award amount based on their EFC. Individual awards ranged from $25 to $975.

As of October 1, 2021, Blue Ridge CTC has distributed a total of $2,135,360. As of March 31, 2022, Blue Ridge CTC has distributed a total of $3,025,974.00. Please note these totals may fluctuate as these amounts represent initial awards and do not account for students who have returned their checks.

Blue Ridge CTC estimates that 1,997 students may have been eligible for ARP funds from the summer 2020 and fall 2020 term. Blue Ridge CTC determined that 1463 students were eligible for emergency funding due to enrollment status (greater than 1 credit hour). 809 students were also Pell eligible and received an additional award amount based on their EFC. Individual awards ranged from $10 to $1,750. Of the 1463 students who received ARP funds, 47 students did not cash their ARP fund checks.
As of September 30, 2021:
Blue Ridge CTC estimates that 2,383 students may have been eligible for ARP funds from fall 2021 term. Blue Ridge CTC that 1826 students were eligible for emergency funding due to enrollment (greater than 1 credit hour). The additional amount is based on their EFC. Students who are considered pell eligible are receiving an additional $1000 and non-pell eligible students are receiving an additional $500. 678 students were Pell eligible. Also, students who completed a special circumstance due to loss of employment due to COVID; students who are considered unaccompanied minors/homeless; and students who completed a dependency appeal received an additional $2000 to $3000.
As of December 31, 2021:
After awarding ARP funds for students enrolled in fall 2021, additional students were awarded funds to help cover past due balances for the fall 2021 semester. Students actively authorized these funds to be applied to their outstanding balance. Of the 68 students who owed at least $100 and had completed a FAFSA, 30 students chose to authorize the use of these funds totaling $34,065.02. Additionally, $19,000 was awarded to high school students who were not in the initial round of ARP funding for the fall 2021 semester.
As of March 31, 2022
Blue Ridge CTC estimates that 1860 students may have been eligible for ARP funds from the spring 2022 term. Blue Ridge CTC determined that 1388 students were eligible for emergency funding due to enrollment (1 or more credit hours). If applicable, these students were refunded the amount of their distance education fee. Additional funds were awarded based on Pell Grant Eligibility and Estimated Family Contribution. Students with an EFC of $0 were awarded an additional $1,000; students with a pell grant eligible EFC were awarded $500. 600 Students were eligible for the additional funding above the distance education fee. Students who completed a Special Circumstance, Homeless Youth or Dependency Appeal also received additional funds. One student declined their ARP fund of $850; this amount was awarded to a student who had authorized the fund to pay for a past due balance.
Students were notified via email of their eligibility and ARP award amount.
