Blue Ridge Community and Technical College (BRCTC) has been re-designated as a National Center for Academic Excellence (CAE) in Cyber Defense Education through the 2027 academic year. The National Security Agency (NSA) awards this designation.
This institutional designation ensures academic programs include components that promote cyber awareness and cyber security throughout institutional policy and practice, outreach efforts within the community, and promotion of continuing education through scholarship opportunities.
Kay Ogilvie, Cybersecurity Program Coordinator, said, “CAE designation by the NSA of the Cybersecurity Program at Blue Ridge CTC is a true honor. Receiving this re-designation validates that our students are prepared to address the critical shortage of professionals with cybersecurity skills needed to enter the workforce. This national recognition offers extensive benefits to our students, business and academic partners in the tri-state area. Blue Ridge CTC is thrilled to have once again received this CAE re-designation.”
Receiving this re-designation entails a process requiring the Institution to prove how the Cybersecurity and Information Technology programs’ technical curriculum aligns with the Center of Academic Excellence criteria outlined by the National Security Agency and Department of Homeland Security. Blue Ridge CTC is one of only three colleges in West Virginia that have met all requirements for this designation.
Blue Ridge CTC was recognized at the Center of Academic Excellence Community Regional Hub Event and Designation Ceremony, held at the United States Naval Academy in Annapolis, MD.
