Martinsburg, WV.  Blue Ridge Community and Technical College Board of Governors met virtually via Zoom on Wednesday, December 7, 2022.

Ms. Harvey introduced Daniel Persaud, Principal CLA Connect, who presented the audit presentation for the cycle ending June 30, 2022. Mr. Persaud noted no findings were made during the audit process. The Board passed a motion to accept the audit report.

The meeting was called to order at 11:50am by Board Chair, Ms. Stephanie Harvey. Ms. Harvey continued with the approval of the October 2022 minutes.

Dr. Checkovich presented the President’s Report, highlighting recent media articles pertaining to the Institution.

Ms. Leslie See, Vice President of Enrollment and Allied Health Sciences and Ms. Blythe Burner, Assistant Dean of Nursing presented the nursing report. Dr. See highlighted that program accreditation has concluded and the Nursing program is fully accredited by the Accreditation Commission of Nursing Education without stipulations.

Ms. See continued by introducing the new Inspire Scholarship. This scholarship partnership with WVU Medicine offers tuition reimbursement to current employees up to $1500. Students must be employed by the hospital system and enrolled at Blue Ridge Community and Technical College.

Ms. Blythe Burner continued with an update with the Nursing program expansion. Blue Ridge CTC received a grant to expand the Nursing program. Ms. Burner noted the grant was used to develop a new Accelerated Nursing program, which is slated to begin Summer 2023.

Dr. Craig Miller, Chief Financial Officer, presented the Professional Studies and University Transfer report. Dr. Miller introduced Dr. Page Moore, Dean of Professional Studies and University Transfer and Mr. Joshua Rider, Education Program Coordinator. Dr. Moore and Mr. Rider highlighted a partnership with Hedgesville Elementary in which Blue Ridge CTC students provide math intervention strategies to elementary school students.

Dr. Miller introduced Morgan Gower, Director of Human Resources, who concluded the report with an overview of the recent bus trip to the National Museum of the American Indian History and Culture.

Dr. Craig Miller and Ms. Kristy Scarlata, Comptroller, presented the Finance Report.

Executive Session was not held. No public vote was made.

The meeting adjourned at 12:47pm.
