Blue Ridge Community and Technical College was independently accredited by the Higher Learning Commission in February 2005. The College, which had held the name of the Community and Technical College (CTC) of Shepherd, was officially renamed Blue Ridge Community and Technical College on July 1, 2006. Blue Ridge Community and Technical College has since received reaffirmation of accreditation in 2010 and most recently in 2015.

The Higher Learning Commission (HLC) is an independent corporation, which was founded in 1895 as one of six regional institutional accreditors in the United States. The Higher Learning Commission accredits, and thereby grants membership in the Commission, to degree-granting educational institutions in the North Central region: Arkansas, Arizona, Colorado, Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, North Dakota, Nebraska, Ohio, Oklahoma, New Mexico, South Dakota, Wisconsin, West Virginia, and Wyoming.

Emergency Medical Services Accreditation

Blue Ridge Community & Technical College EMS Program is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health

CAAHEP Accredited Paramedic Programs and CoAEMSP Letter of Review (LoR) Programs track and report outcome measures annually to the Committee on Accreditation for the Emergency Medical Services Professions (CoAEMSP).

The most current CoAEMSP Annual Report was for the calendar year 2021.

The most recent success rate for the National Registry of EMT Paramedic/State Cognitive exam was 60%.

The most recent positive placement rate for graduates was 100%. Positive placement is defined by the CoAEMSP as ‘Employed full or part-time in a related field and/or continuing his/her education and/or serving in the military’. Positive placement is measured at the completion of the program.

The most recent retention rate was 100%.

The Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing, Inc. ACEN® provides Blue Ridge CTC with specialized accreditation ensuring that the Nursing program meets or exceeds standards of quality. Because this program is nationally accredited, the WV Board of Nursing also approved Blue Ridge CTC with full accreditation status.
