    The main purpose of this position is to perform independent psychological services in a correctional institution at the Doctoral level in order to meet required standards for providing psychological services to incarcerated adults within a State Correctional Institution. The correctional psychologist is responsible for the supervision, direction and management of the facility’s Mental Health Department.

The Psychologist Correctional provides direct psychological services in order to respond to the mental health needs of incarcerated adults within a State Correctional Institution.

Assesses the inmate’s psychological and behavioral status to determine appropriate mental health services using psychological testing and psychotherapeutic techniques.
Conducts individual and group therapy with incarcerated inmates within the Correctional Institution.
Intervenes in a crisis to deescalate the situation using crisis intervention techniques and suicide prevention planning.
Develops treatment and rehabilitation plans for inmates who need ongoing therapeutic intervention. Implements the plans following psychotherapeutic protocols.
Screens and identifies the mental health needs the incarcerated adult and refers for other services such as psychiatric care, inpatient mental health services, case management, as well as community resources for continuing care upon release

SUPERVISON TO SUBORDINATE STAFF

Provides clinical supervision and managerial direction to the facility’s mental health/psychology department.
Assigns inmates to MHPC individual caseload. Monitors inmate participation and progress during therapy.
Oversees participation and progress of inmate’s assigned to MHPC’s group therapy.
Meets on biweekly basis (more frequently when necessary) with the MHPC for consultation and review of inmate progress.

DOCUMENT SERVICES RENDERED

Documents the services rendered of those treated by recording services and inmate events in the electronic health record.
Document interventions and actions taken to appropriate Custody staff as required by providing a Matter of Record.

INTEGRATION OF PSYCHOLOGY SERVICES IN THE PRISON

Represents the interests and needs of inmate’s mental health in meetings, including but not limited to administrative staff meetings, custody staff meetings, segregation reviews, medical case reviews, quality assurance reviews, psychiatric case consultation and suicide prevention meetings.
Represents the psychology department at all required institutional committee meetings, e.g., program committee, Inmate representative committee,
Providing information about mental health issues to Administrative and Custodial staff, as well as to inmates and their family members.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: A Doctorate degree in psychology or a related field from an accredited college or university accepted by the Maryland Board of Examiners of Psychologists.

Experience: Two years of experience rendering psychological services or engaged in psychological research.

Note: Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer in Clinical Psychology classifications or Psychology specialty codes in the Psychology field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience and education.

    The Mental Health Professional Counselor is the full performance level of the professional counseling work, at the Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor level, providing counseling services to clients with mental disorders by using assessment, evaluation, and intervention, rehabilitation, and treatment regimens.

Functioning as an independently licensed mental health professional, the Mental Health Professional Counselor is responsible for providing mental health services to inmates within a defined population of a correctional facility. The duties include but are not limited to:
Assesses the inmate’s situation to determine the appropriate services using clinical interview techniques, objective assessments, and psychological testing under the supervision of a licensed psychologist.
Intervenes in crisis situations to de-escalate the situation and provide acute care using suicide prevention planning and crisis intervention techniques.
Develop treatment plans and provides treatment to inmates who have significant mental or emotional disorders through the use of individual and/or group counseling.
Develops and implements behavioral management plans for inmates that are disruptive to the operation of the institution.
Refers inmates for other services such as psychiatric care, inpatient mental health services, case management planning, medical evaluations, addictions services, etc.
Documents services rendered to the inmate in the EPHR in accordance with established procedures.
Evaluates inmates for changes in security classifications using psychological tests combined with information gathered in the clinical interview in accordance with applicable regulations.
Reviews charts/EPHR as needed and assigned by department head.
Adheres to accepted ethical and behavioral standards of conduct and participates in continuing professional development.
May collaborate with other professionals in carrying out research in correctional work.

Administrative/Supervisory & Ancillary Duties

The Mental Health Professional Counselor is responsible for some non-clinical and /or administrative duties related to the performance of the above – described primary duties. These include, but are not limited to:
Maintains statistics to summarize the daily psychological services completed.
Participates in interdisciplinary meetings as needed.
May participate in training students and non-professional staff.
Serves on special work groups and projects as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Determined by the Maryland State Board of Professional Counselors and Therapists under the requirements for Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC).

    A Correctional Maintenance Officer I Electronics is the entry level of work involving the custody, security and supervision of adult inmates in maintenance and repair work in a correctional environment. Employees in this classification do not supervise other positions. Employees in this classification receive close supervision from a Correctional Maintenance Officer Supervisor. Employees are assigned to day, evening, night or rotating shifts. Employees are subject to call-in during emergencies and staffing shortages. Work is performed in and around a correctional facility, and employees are continually exposed to inmates who may be abusive and hostile and have access to potentially dangerous tools and equipment. When assigned to outside maintenance jobs, employees are exposed to all types of weather conditions. Employees may be required to physically subdue and restrain inmates during fights, riots and escape attempts. The work may require moving objects weighing over 25 pounds. Positions in this classification are evaluated using the classification job evaluation methodology. The use of this method involves comparing assigned duties and responsibilities of a position to the job criteria found in the Nature of Work and Examples of Work Sections of the class specification. The Correctional Maintenance Officer I and Correctional Maintenance Officer II are differentiated on the basis of degree of supervisory control exercised by the supervisor over these employees. The Correctional Maintenance Officer I learns to perform duties under close supervision. The Correctional Maintenance Officer II performs the full range of duties and responsibilities under general supervision within established guidelines.

Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate acceptable to the Maryland State Board of Education as described in the Maryland Correctional Training Commission regulation.

Experience: Two years of electronics experience.

Panhandle Home Health has a current opening for a full-time, 40 hour per week RN position. Our nurses go into a patient’s home to provide and direct one-on-one physician ordered skilled care to patients who reside in Berkeley, Jefferson, and Morgan counties. A current WV RN license is required as well as current CPR certification.

One year of nursing experience is preferred but will consider LPN experience or less than one year RN experience depending on acute care work history.
The position is paid hourly and travel is also reimbursed. A typical day may be drawing labs, providing/teaching wound care, educating patients/families on disease processes. The home healthcare setting is an ideal opportunity to use a wide variety of hands-on nursing skills. Potential for further education in wound certification.

In the residential hospital, we work in a team of 3 nurses.  The orientation/shadow process is as long as needed.  The pay is quite competitive with benefits.
