This is an entry-level position and requires no previous legal experience, but a customer service background is a bonus. In this position you will have the opportunity to learn about the legal industry while getting hands-on experience with the justice system and making a difference in the lives of injury victims.

Duties/Responsibilities:
• Helping administrative staff and attorneys prepare for trial
• Answer and route incoming calls in a courteous and helpful manner
• Participate in the communication and screening of prospective clients
• Inputting, organizing, and maintaining data in our client management system
• Drafting correspondence, contracts, and documents for the administrative team
• Receive, scan, and distribute daily inbound mail through the office’s filing system
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent.
At least two years customer service or related experience required.

Physical Requirements:
Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
Must live within 45 miles of our Charles Town, WV office
Required to have a reliable car/source of transportation

Legal Assistant at Social Security Administration

POSITION OVERVIEW
Legal Assistants provide legal and technical support to
Administrative Law Judges (ALJs), attorneys, paralegal
analysts, and other technical personnel. They develop
and process requests for hearings from start to finish,
independently performing a wide range of actions to
include: scheduling cases for hearings, preparing case
summaries, and reviewing/analyzing medical and legal
documentation.

SALARY & ADVANCEMENT
Entry into this position normally starts at the GS-5 (salary –
$31,083) level with advancement opportunity to the GS-8
level (salary – $42,641) (Note: Salary displayed is base salary;
salary can be increase based on locality pay) . Candidates
with legal experience and/or graduate level education may be
hired above the entry level. See General Schedule (opm.gov)
for salaries in your area. Future career opportunities include,
but are not limited to, technical expert and management
positions.

QUALIFICATIONS
To qualify, you must be a U.S. citizen, and have excellent
communication, organizational, interpersonal, problem
solving, analytical, writing and computer software skills. We
consider additional qualifications such as experience,
education or a combination of experience and education.
