  3. Job Description
    1. Obtains and documents medical history and other significant information pertinent to the customer’s condition and records accurately. Show patients to examination rooms and prepare them for the physician.

2.Collect blood, tissue or other laboratory specimens, log the specimens, and prepare them for testing.

3.Help physicians examine and treat patients, handing them instruments and materials or performing such tasks as giving injections and removing sutures.

  1. Provides follow up/call backs to customers per provider’s instructions.
  2. Contact medical facilities or departments to schedule patients for tests and/or admission.
  3. Appropriately responds in urgent/emergency situations in delivery of customer care.
  4. Perform general office duties such as answering telephones, taking dictation, completing insurance forms and other duties as assigned.
  5. Prepare treatment rooms for patient examinations, keeping the rooms neat and clean. Clean and sterilize instruments and dispose of contaminated supplies.

Education- High School graduate or the equivalent required.

Experience- Minimum of 6 months experience working in a hands on patient care role utilizing skills such as obtaining vitals, compiling and recording medical/medication history, injections OR documented completion of formal training as a GNA, CNA, EMT, MEDIC, or Medical Assistant Must demonstrate full competency and pass skill assessment within 30 days of hire.

License/Certification- Current BLS (CPR) in compliance with policy required.

Description

Phlebotomist – As Needed

Summary – The Phlebotomist collects the proper specimens from the patient, i.e., blood, urine, cultures, etc.,according to the physician’s order, ensuring specimen integrity. This position follows standard operating procedures for positive patient ID, collection, labeling, processing, and handling of appropriate specimens ensuring patient safety while maintaining customer focus. May be performing draws in either Oupatient Facilities or Nursing Home Facilities.

Education – Proof of completion of accredited phlebotomy, military medic, medical assistant or EMT course.

Experience – Completion of one of the above or 1 year recent phlebotomy experience.

Licensure/Certification – Preferred certification in phlebotomy, medical assistant or EMT.  Current BLS certification in compliance with policy required.  Current, valid driver’s license, car insurance, and access to a vehicle required.  Vehicle maintenance is the employee’s responsibility.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities – Possess the ability to interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient’s requirements relative to his/her age-specific needs and to provide the care needed as described in the unit’s/department’s policies and procedures. Understanding of medical terminology desirable.
