Voices of the Holocaust
Blue Ridge Community and Technical College Foundation and Alumni Association Partners to Offer Free Screening of Holocaust Documentary
Martinsburg, WV. Blue Ridge Community and Technical College Foundation and Alumni Association and Growth Media have partnered to offer a free public screening of the documentary Voices of the Holocaust, March 3, 2015 from 6-7:30 pm. Produced by Berkeley County’s Growth Media Productions, the film features interviews with nine Holocaust survivors who recount stories of heartbreak and hope during World War II.
“To the current generation, World War II is ancient history,” says executive producer Darla Gaige. “It is something that they read about in their history books, but isn’t real to them. Seeing these individuals, hearing their stories, changes that. It takes it out of the realm of abstract and makes it real and personal. And with the trend of denial of the Holocaust, and the dwindling number of Holocaust survivors, it is important that these stories be remembered.”
Voices of the Holocaust is currently airing on public and educational television stations across the country, but this will be the first screening in the local area. This event is free and is open to all and will be followed by comments from the producers on the making of the film. The event will be held at the Blue Ridge CTC Technology Center, 5550 Winchester Ave, Martinsburg WV 25405 in Room T04.
