System Administrator

Summary/Objective
The System Administrator is responsible for working with the IT Director in developing, executing and managing the Information Technology strategy in support of the overall business plan and strategic direction of the organization. This includes the responsibility for all technology infrastructures necessary to effectively deliver networks, telecommunications, programs and disaster recovery to support and enhance our employees, customers and suppliers.
Essential Functions
• Execute the IT plans and strategies to support the achievement of the overall business objectives
• Manage all aspects of the IT infrastructure (i.e. operating systems, networks, telecommunications, hardware, and peripherals)
• Protect the company and its operations against IT risks, including unauthorized access to information, viruses, data integrity, loss of processing capability, and poor service levels
• Perform user account maintenance such as creating, updating, removing and auditing
• Ensure data backup is accomplished according to DALB’s business requirements including routinely testing backup and restore processes for servers, systems and files
• Proactively strive towards minimizing user downtime
• Continuously review and educate oneself on current and new IT technologies and implement these once approved
• Train users on newly adopted IT technologies
• Prepare and maintain documentation on system design
• Contribute to team effort by promoting process improvement and accomplishing related results
• Maintain monitoring solutions and provide reports to help prevent failures
Core Competency Requirements
Knowledge and expertise in:
• Active Directory, Exchange, Group Policy, DNS and DHCP administration
• Microsoft products including Windows Server, Office Suite/365, and Azure administration
• Proactively manage and maintain servers, switches, firewalls, desktops, terminal servers, and Thin OS environments
• Oversee installation of network, communications, and peripheral cabling and devices
• Cisco or related phone administration
• Hardware and software administration
• SAN and NAS management and related storage technologies
• Citrix VDI administration and patching
• VMware virtualization administration and patching
• Organizational safety
Required Skills
• Above average oral and written communication skills
• Excellent interpersonal and training skills
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and assistance
• Evidence of practice of high level of confidentiality
Required Education and Experience
• A Bachelor’s or Associates degree from an accredited college/university
• A minimum of five years of relevant IT administration experience
Supervisory Responsibility
This position currently is not responsible for supervising others.
Work Environment
This job operates in a professional office environment with occasional duties on the plant floor. This role routinely uses standard office equipment. Some weekend/evening work may be needed to perform upgrades and troubleshooting during off-peak work hours.
