Blue Ridge CTC Board of Governors Meeting November 3, 2021

Martinsburg, WV.  Blue Ridge Community and Technical College Board of Governors met virtually via Microsoft Teams on Wednesday, November 3, 2021. The meeting was called to order at 11:32am by Board Chair, Ms. Stephanie Harvey.

Ms. Harvey continued with the approval of the August 2021 minutes.

Dr. Checkovich presented the President’s Report, highlighting recent media articles pertaining to the Institution.

Dr. Checkovich continued the meeting with an overview of COVID 19 mitigation tactics, including an upcoming remodel at the Technology Center. The Board passed a motion to approve the project.

Dr. Ann Shipway, Vice President of Workforce and Engineering Technologies, presented the Workforce Report.

Dr. Shipway introduced Cynthia Hull-Miller, Associate Dean of Career Advancement and Jane Peters, Outreach Coordinator. Ms. Peters presented an update on the Bandi incubator project, housed at the Morgan County Center located in Berkeley Springs, WV.

Dr. Shipway continued the meeting by introducing Amber Butcher, Director of Workforce Development Internships and B&I Communications, who shared a student success story of a Cyber Security student.

Dr. Shipway concluded her report with an update on the Volvo partnership.

Leslie See, Vice President of Enrollment and Allied Health Sciences provided the Enrollment Report. Ms. See reviewed unofficial enrollment numbers for the Fall 2021 term.

Dr. Craig Miller, Chief Financial Officer, introduced Kristy Scarlata, Comptroller who presented the Finance Report. Ms. Scarlata provided an overview of the College’s financial performances as of June 30, 2021.

Executive Session was not held. No public vote was made.

The meeting adjourned at 12:34 pm.
