Blue Ridge CTC Board of Governors Meeting April 3, 2019

Martinsburg, WV.  Blue Ridge Community and Technical College Board of Governors met at the Technology Center in Martinsburg on Wednesday, April 3, 2019. The meeting was called to order at 12:03 pm by Board Chair, Keith Unger.

Mr. Unger began the meeting with approval of the March 2019 minutes.

Dr. Checkovich continued the meeting by introducing Dr. Sarah Tucker, Chancellor of the West Virginia Community and Technical College System. Dr. Checkovich noted that many of the programs currently operating at the Technology Center began thanks to the support of Dr. Tucker.

Dr. Checkovich introduced Delegate Sammi Brown, Delegate Daryl Cowles, Delegate Paul Espinosa, Delegate John Hardy, Delegate Eric Householder, Senator Patricia Rucker, and Senator Charles Trump. Each of the local legislators were strong advocates for higher education during this year’s legislative session. Dr. Checkovich expressed sincere gratitude for the support of the local delegation and the resulting positive impact upon the College.

Dr. Craig Miller, Chief Financial Officer, presented the Finance Report. Dr. Miller presented the tuition and fee proposal. The Board passed a motion to maintain the in-state tuition rate and increase the metro fee tuition rate.

Ms. Leslie See, Vice President of Enrollment, presented the enrollment report. Ms. See noted the unofficial enrollment for the Spring 2019 term shows an increase in enrollment. Ms. See concluded her report by highlighting upcoming College events, including the 13th Commencement Ceremony scheduled for Thursday, May 23, 2019.

Ms. Laura Busey, Dean of Instruction and Institutional Research, presented the program review for Associate of Applied Science in Applied Technology. The Board passed a motion to continue the program.

Executive Session was held. The Board passed a motion and voted to approve the President’s contract.  The meeting adjourned at 1:29 pm.
