Blue Ridge CTC Board of Governors Meeting: 5/6/2020

Martinsburg, WV.  Blue Ridge Community and Technical College Board of Governors met virtually via Zoom on Wednesday, May 6, 2020. The meeting was called to order at 11:39pm by Board Chair, Ms. Stephanie Harvey.

Ms. Harvey continued with the approval of the March 2020 minutes.

Dr. Checkovich presented the President’s Report, highlighting recent media articles pertaining to the Institution.

Dr. Checkovich continued the meeting, reviewing the success of the Higher Learning Commission Accreditation visit performed remotely April 20-21, 2020.

Dr. Craig Miller, Chief Financial Officer, presented the Finance Report, beginning with the Proposed Fee Additions and Changes for the 2020-2021 Academic Year. The program specific fees are associated with textbook and laboratory expenses. The Board passed a motion to adopt the proposal.

Leslie See, Vice President of Enrollment presented the Enrollment Report, noting strong enrollment for the summer 2020 term. Ms. See continued her report highlighting the new Unity Campaign. The Unity Campaign includes a variety of community programs including no application fee through August 30, 2020 and special scholarship options for high school graduates, essential employees, and mask donations. Dr. Craig Miller, Chief Financial Officer, continued the meeting by presenting the Tuition and Fee Schedule, emphasizing no tuition increase for the 2020-2021 Academic Year. The Board passed a motion to adopt the Tuition and Fee Schedule. Dr. Miller concluded his report by reviewing the proposed FY 21 budget. The Board passed a motion to adopt the FY 21 budget.

Executive Session was not held.

The meeting adjourned at 12:40 pm.
