Blue Ridge CTC Board of Governors Meeting 2/5/2020

Martinsburg, WV.  Blue Ridge Community and Technical College Board of Governors met at the Main Campus in Martinsburg on Wednesday, February 5, 2020. The meeting was called to order at 12pm by Board Chair, Ms. Stephanie Harvey.

Ms. Harvey continued with the approval of the December 2019 minutes.

Dr. Checkovich introduced Anne Myers, Foundation Director, who welcomed Ana Sousa and Candace Hayslette, both from Logoplaste in Martinsburg, WV.

Dr. Checkovich presented the President’s Report, highlighting recent media articles pertaining to the Institution.

Ms. Kristy Scarlata, Comptroller, presented the Finance Report with an overview of FY 20 second quarter financials, noting a strong financial position.

Dr. Ann Shipway, Vice President of Workforce and Engineering Technology, presented the Workforce Development report. Dr. Shipway updated Board Members on recent grant projects.

Dr. Shipway introduced Adam Bridendolph, Associate Dean of Advanced Manufacturing, who provided an overview of the new Plastics Technology training lab established at the Technology Center. Designed in response to the workforce need for trained plastics technicians, the new facility is the only plastics lab in the state of West Virginia.

Ms. Leslie See, Vice President of Enrollment and Allied Health, presented the enrollment report. Ms. See provided an overview of the 2019 West Virginia Almanac profile published by the Community and Technical College System and West Virginia Higher Education Policy Commission. Ms. See continued her report with an update on dual enrollment programming, highlighting the launch of the General Studies JumpStart program in Jefferson County Fall 2020. Ms. See concluded her report with the upcoming Nursing accreditation visit scheduled for February 2020.

Executive Session was not held.

The meeting adjourned at 1:35 pm.
