Students who are currently enrolled in high school and wish to take college level courses at Blue Ridge CTC are classified as high school students.
- Student must have at least a 2.0 high school GPA
- Must have ACT/SAT/ACCUPLACER scores for placement in Math or English. For specific score requirements, please refer to the Academic Foundation section of this catalog.
- The total number of high school and college instructional hours is not to exceed 19.
Steps to enroll:
- Complete the yellow one page special high school application (available at the Blue Ridge CTC Enrollment Management Office or download below)
- Submit ACT/SAT/ACCUPLACER scores for placement in Math or English courses.
- Submit current transcript of high school courses taken.
- Submit letter of recommendation from the guidance counselor or administrator.
- Pay the required tuition fee upon registration.

College Transition Program
The College Transition Program is a state wide initiative that focuses on a bridge program for high school students that leads to a community and technical college degree.
This is a free 3 credit college class that helps to prepare the student to be successful in his/her academic endeavors.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need ACT or SAT scores to take classes at the time I take courses?
ACT or SAT scores are needed in order to take Math, English, or Reading classes. These test scores must be on file in the admissions office before these classes can be taken.
Can I take classes at any time of the day?
Of course! Classes are offered in the day, evening, and online, a student in the High School Program can take any of these classes as long as they meet the pre-requisites.
How many credits can I take in one semester?
The total number of high school and college instructional hours is not to exceed 19 hours in one semester.
What if I am a Home-Schooled student? Can I still take classes?
Yes. Even though you have been home-schooled, you still need to have ACT or SAT scores, a transcript of the courses that you have taken, and a letter of approval to take the classes.
Am I limited to the classes that I can take?
No, students enrolled in the high school program may take any class offered in Martinsburg at the CTC or courses offered at local high schools.
Do students in the high school program pay full tuition for classes?
No, currently the high school rate is half the cost of regular tuition at $53 per credit hour** (this make a 3-credit hour course $159)

Will the entire class be high school students?
No, to ensure a realistic college experience, you will be attending classes with other college students and will be expected to uphold all of the same standards.
How do I enroll?
There is a special high school registration form, you must also obtain a letter from your guidance counselor, a high school transcript, and ACT or SAT test scores (for placement in Math, English, and Reading).
Are the credits transferable?
The classes taken in the high school program are transferable to Blue Ridge CTC and other institutions, depending on the requirements of the receiving institution.
