STUDENT TRANSFER EDUCATION PROGRAM (STEP):

The Student Transfer Education Program (STEP) at Blue Ridge Community and Technical College is designed to allow students to complete core general education courses close to home and then transfer these courses to any state institution of higher education. Courses listed below appear on the West Virginia Higher Education Policy Commission/West Virginia Council for Community and Technical College Education’s Core Coursework Transfer Agreement 2009–2010. This agreement assures that students who transfer from one state college or university to another will receive credit for liberal arts courses at the receiving institutions.

Students may complete these courses at Blue Ridge Community and Technical College and then transfer up to thirty-two credits in the areas of English composition, communications and literature, mathematics, natural science, and social science as liberal arts credits. This gives local students the opportunity to complete the courses while living at home, paying the community college tuition rate, and getting a STEP ahead of completing their associate’s or bachelor’s degrees.
