Business & Technology: MCSA and MCSE Certification Tracks of AAS Degree Program

Degree/Hours to Complete:
Associates Degree; 65 hours to complete. MCSA courses only 12 hours; MCSE courses only 21 hours. (Currently under review due to changing Microsoft requirements).

General information: Microsoft certifications represent a rich and varied spectrum of job roles and responsibilities. And, earning a specific credential provides objective validation of the ability to successfully perform critical IT functions. Embraced by industry professionals worldwide, Microsoft certification remains one of the most effective ways to reach
long-term career goals, and it is a surefire way for companies to develop and retain valuable IT staff.

Concentrations/Specializations:

Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator (MCSA) candidates on the Windows Server 2003 track are required to satisfy the following requirements:

Core exams (three exams required)

Two networking system exams

One client operating system exam

Elective exams (one exam required)

Together with the core exams, the elective exams provide a valid and reliable measure of technical proficiency and expertise to successfully manage and maintain the typically complex computing environment of medium-to-large-sized companies. MCSA candidates should have 6 to 12 months of experience administering client and network operating systems.

Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE) candidates on the Windows Server 2003 track are required to satisfy the following requirements:

Core exams (six exams required)

Four networking system exams

One client operating system exam

One design exam

Elective exams (one exam required)
Together with the core exams, the elective exams provide a valid and reliable measure of technical proficiency and expertise in solution design and implementation. MCSE candidates should also have at least one year of experience implementing and administering network operating systems and desktop operating systems.
