CompTIA: Certifications in Information TechnologyA+CompTIA's A+ certification is an entry-level credential that demonstrates competency as a computer technician. Certificate-holders understand the fundamentals of information technology, networking, and security, and can identify hardware, peripheral, networking, and security components. Successful candidates also understand the basic functionality of the operating system as well as basic troubleshooting methodology, and practice proper safety procedures, and effective interaction with customers and peers.
Network+Network+ is a certification used to measure skill as a network technician including an understanding of network hardware, installation, and troubleshooting. Topics include network hardware, connections, software, the OSI Reference model, and different protocols used in local area networks (LANs) and wide area networks (WANs).
Linux+Linux+ is an entry-level certification, developed by CompTIA™, which measures vendor-neutral Linux knowledge and skills for an individual with at least six months practical experience (Network+ or A+ background). Students learn the fundamentals of the Linux operating system including how to configure Linux system services, how to manage a Linux system in a networked environment, and finally, how to manage the servers a Linux system provides.
Security+CompTIA's Security+ certification includes communication security, infrastructure security, cryptography, access control, authentication, external attack and operational and organization security. Other topics are protocols used in Linux, UNIX, and Windows 2000 in addition to the TCP/IP suite component protocols, and Ethernet operations. Students will gain knowledge in capturing, analyzing, and generating IP traffic, how to exploit protocol weaknesses and examine defensive solutions. Packet filtering, password policies, and file integrity checking are also covered.
Project+ Curriculum covers the entire project life cycle from initiation and planning through execution, acceptance, support, and closure.
