CompTIA Security+ Certification Track

Security+ is a course that maps to CompTIA's Security+ Certification. It covers Network Security. Students capture, analyze, and generate IP traffic, exploit protocol weaknesses, examine defensive solutions, install, configure, and test a powerful NIDS solution, and create a Linux based router/firewall solution. A broad range of general security techniques such as packet filtering, password policies, and file integrity checking are covered. Special attention is given to securing network services common to each platform.

The Security+ course helps prepare a student for the CompTia Security+ Certification exam. Students will learn about industry-wide security topics, including communication security, infrastructure security, cryptography, access control, authentication, external attack and operational and organization security. Other topics included in this course are protocols used in Linux, UNIX, and Windows 2000 in addition to the TCP/IP suite component protocols, and Ethernet operations. Students will gain knowledge in capturing, analyzing, and generating IP traffic, how to exploit protocol weaknesses and examine defensive solutions. Packet filtering, password policies, and file integrity checking are also covered.
