Associate of Applied Science Degree Programs

Business The A.A.S. Business Program is an introduction to business concepts and theory.  This degree prepares the graduate for entry-level opportunities in service organizations, retail locations, and administration.  Electives in this program allow the student to select courses from a variety of subjects related to business or concentrate on his or her studies in a specific area
Criminal Justice As the criminal justice field has experienced strong and rapid growth in the past decade, it is anticipated that the need for skilled workers will continue to increase. 
Paralegal The Associate of Applied Science Degree in Paralegal Studies is a program designed to provide students with a balance between theory and practice, enabling graduates to step immediately into opportunities in this growing area of the legal community.  The program is designed to prepare individuals for employment at all levels of law-administration, trial, appellate, and government.
Information Technology The Information Technology program offers an associate of applied science degree, incorporating vendor certification training, for students preparing for entry-level employment or advancement in a variety of occupations, courses, and professional certificate programs in Information Technology.
Computer Application Specialist With the exceptional growth being experienced in the Eastern Panhandle, well-trained computer specialist support personnel are essential for business and industry. The Computer Application Specialist AAS degree provides students with the training needed for employment upon graduation.
Computer Network Engineering Technologies This program provides our students with regularly updated curriculum and technology, a comprehensive e-learning environment, math, science and language arts standards, and the ability to learn anytime, and anywhere. The Cisco curriculum; more specifically, will help prepare our students to obtain industry-recognized certifications that are recognized worldwide as an indication of mastery, and will instruct our students in the knowledge they need on current equipment for a career in the Information Technology field.
Cyber Security The career opportunities within the Cyber Security profession are expected to increase in the coming years. Due to the increase in cyber crime, businesses and government agencies will increase their requirement for cyber professionals in the future to protect records and private information.
Board of Governors The Board of Governors A.A.S. requires 60 credit hours, which include a general education core of 21 credit hours and 39 credit hours consisting of general electives. The structure of the degree assures flexibility in program design to meet the individual needs of adult students.
Certificate Degree Programs
Business and Technology

The Business & Technology Certificate combines general education and business courses for the purpose of serving students studying business, office technology, and information technology.  This certificate assures employers that the student has an introductory knowledge of the business environment, commonly used office technology programs, and up and coming trends affecting business and society.

Organizational Leadership Development

The Certificate in Organizational Leadership Development focuses on the study of leadership in organizations in which students develop an understanding of how an organization operates.  Students will learn how leadership is important in every organization, how change impacts the individual and the organization, and how the role of a leader is a major function of management.

Technology Systems The Technology System Certificate combines traditional professional and business communication with information technology.  Certification such as A+, CIW, and MCAS work well with the restricted electives in this program; therefore, enhancing the credential that a Technology System Certificate provides.
Cisco Certified Network Associate Students seeking a rapid path to employment may enroll in the Cisco Certified Network Associate Certification Program, which will provide the fundamental knowledge and skills required for employment in the Networking portion of the Information Technology field. Those seeking specific technical knowledge and a broader, more marketable understanding of the networking environment can pursue the Cisco Certified Network Associate Certificate option. Both programs are instructed by highly trained and credentialed faculty and incorporate technical modules, hands-on laboratories, and equipment training.
Cisco Certified Network Professional The Cisco Certified Network Professional program has been created to address the needs of businesses and organizations; as well as, students within the local West Virginia community. Information Technology is a growing field in this area and the need for certified technicians is growing at a rapid rate. This program will address this need at a local level and allow for resident businesses and organizations to hire from a local pool of talent as opposed to hiring outside of the local community to address their needs.
Systems Networking The Systems Networking certificate is designed specifically for those seeking entry into a career of advanced networking that combines hardware infrastructure and systems administration.  This certificate will build upon curriculum developed for the Computer Network Engineering and Information Technology degrees, and will incorporate the new Microsoft® Certified Information Technology Professional (MCITP) content in order to offer enhanced career pathways to students.
Converged Networking The Converged Technology Certificate combines the associate-level Cisco certifications for Voice, Wireless, and Security.  It also provides foundational knowledge of network fundamentals and routing protocols and switching.  Certificate earners demonstrate the skills required to administer a voice network, to operate Cisco Wireless networks and mobility infrastructures, and to secure networks.
Justice System The Justice System Certificate provides an introductory study if criminal justice including security, police, and corrections.  Students are encouraged to select restricted electives that complement career and academic goals.
Homeland Security The Homeland Security Certificate will introduce students to the Department of Homeland Security, domestic and international terrorism issues, and strategies for countering terrorist threats. The key principles of emergency management and disaster planning will be presented.
Legal Office Assistant The Legal Office Assistant Certificate is the first year of the A.A.S. Paralegal Studies Degree.  This certificate also serves secretaries, administrative assistants, and office managers who are interested in law and procedure.  This certificate represents the foundation of knowledge that may be applied in a variety of legal office situations.

CompTIA

These vendor-specific courses are designed to provide students with the fundamental skills and knowledge necssary to obtain professional certification in the various CompTIA concentrations including A+, Network+, Project+, Linux+, and Security+

 
Cisco Systems Curriculum at Blue Ridge CTC is designed to prepare students for the entry, associate, and professional-level certifications.  Several tracks within the curriculum—such as Routing and Switching and Network Security—are available, so that you can match your certification path to your job role or industry. Certification tracks include CCDA, CCNA, CCNA Voice, CCNA Security, CCNA Wireless, and CCNP.
Microsoft Microsoft certifications provide and validate market-relevant skills that many employers recognize. Additionally, Microsoft certification entitles you to continually to resources and benefits such as career-building tools and training. Microsoft certification tracks include MOS, MCDST, MCSE, and MCSA.

Internet and Computing Core Certification (IC3)

 

 

The IC3 is a certification program that is designed to teach individuals the digital literacy skills associated with basic computer and Internet use.  The IC3 certificate is awarded to those individuals that take and are able to pass three separate exams, titled Computing Fundamentals, Key Applications, and Living Online.

Certified Internet Webmaster (CIW)

Webmaster is a dynamic Internet based career. Every company, institution, and organization feels a compelling need to be online. At the very least, they want to develop a presence on the Internet. Webmasters design, develop, and maintain these highly visible web sites.
This program is constantly under review and undergoes frequent changes due to changing certification requirements.

Community and Technical College System of WV
