Martinsburg, WV. Students from Blue Ridge Community and Technical College were recognized in Charleston, WV for their academic efforts in higher education. On Friday, April 28, 2017, of the Beta Omicron Delta Chapter of Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) at Blue Ridge Community and Technical College attended the All-State Academic Team induction ceremony. Accompanied by PTK Advisor Ashley Sturm, the students were honored at the event, which included a speech from WV First Lady Cathy Leigh Comer Justice and concluded with a luncheon with fellow inductees. Each member of the West Virginia All-State Academic Team received a certificate signed by the First Lady along with a medallion to recognize exceptional scores during the PTK National Competition. Four Blue Ridge students received this designation for the 2016-2017 academic year: Eileen Kusnirak (pictured), Ronald Willis (pictured), Karli Henss (not pictured) and Thomas Brumbaugh (not pictured).
Phi Theta Kappa is an international honor society with over 1250 chapters around the world. Membership requires a 3.5 GPA and membership provides numerous scholarship opportunities to students. Phi Theta Kappa membership also provides an avenue for students to perform services opportunities.
