Blue Ridge CTC Board of Governors Meeting December 5, 2018

Berkeley Springs, WV.  Blue Ridge Community and Technical College Board of Governors met at the Morgan County Center in Berkeley Springs on Wednesday, December 5, 2018. The meeting was called to order at 11:59 am by Board Chair, Keith Unger.

Mr. Unger began the meeting by introducing Mr. Keith Novak, Principal from CliftonLarsonAllen, who presented the audit report for fiscal year 2018. Mr. Novak reported the audit uncovered no findings and no deficiencies to report.

Mr. Unger continued with approval of the November 2018 minutes.

Dr. Checkovich continued the meeting, introducing Delegate Daryl Cowles, who provided an overview on a variety of legislative topics.

Dr. Checkovich presented the President’s Report, highlighting recent media articles pertaining to the Institution.

Dr. Ann Shipway, Vice President of Workforce and Engineering Technology, presented the Workforce Development report. Dr. Shipway introduced Cynthia Hull-Miller, Associate Dean of Career Advancement who provided an overview of training opportunities located at the Morgan County Center. Dr. Shipway introduced Jane Peters who provided an update on the SpringTech Innovation Lab. Ms. Peters highlighted the new business incubator is now operational and accepting tenant applications. Dr. Shipway concluded her report by providing an update on additional opportunities for growth at the Morgan County Center.

Ms. Vickie Wiles presented the annual security report. Ms. Wiles highlighted there were no significant security occurrences reported. Ms. Wiles concluded her report with a summary of the safety and security procedures used by the College.

Executive Session was not held. The meeting adjourned at 1:07 pm.
