Martinsburg, WV. Blue Ridge Community and Technical College Board of Governors met at the Main Campus in Martinsburg on Wednesday, October 3, 2018. The meeting was called to order at 12:03 pm by Board Chair, Keith Unger.
Mr. Unger began the meeting by introducing Michele Morrison, Associate Dean, Division of Information Technology and Mathematics. Ms. Morrison introduced Harpers Ferry Job Corp representatives Ralph DiBattista, Center Director; Robert Clark, Academic Manager; and Perfecto Cobian, IT Instructor. Blue Ridge CTC and the Harpers Ferry Job Corp signed a new articulation agreement allowing students who complete information technology courses and exams to transfer courses into Blue Ridge CTC.
Mr. Unger continued the meeting with approval of the September 2018 minutes.
Dr. Checkovich continued the meeting with the President’s Report highlighting recent media articles pertaining to the Institution.
Dr. Ann Shipway, Vice President of Workforce and Engineering Technology, presented the Workforce Development report. Dr. Shipway introduced Jane Peters, who provided an overview of the new Business Incubator now located in the Morgan County Center in Berkeley Springs, WV. The incubator, SpringTech Innovation Center, is designed for community members who have a strong business model, but are in need of a location to begin operations.
Ms. Leslie See, Vice President of Enrollment, presented the enrollment report. Ms. See highlighted unofficial fall enrollment of over 6200 students. Ms. See concluded her report noting plans for expansion in high school programming and degree seeking partnerships for the 2019-2020 academic year.
Ms. Kristy Scarlata, Comptroller, presented the Finance Report with an overview of FY 18, noting a strong financial position. The Board passed a motion to approve the Financial Report.
Executive Session was held; no public vote was held. The meeting adjourned at 1:16 pm.
