Blue Ridge CTC Board of Governors Meeting: November 3, 2017

Martinsburg, WV. Blue Ridge Community and Technical College Board of Governors met at the Main Campus in Martinsburg on Friday, November 3, 2017. The meeting was called to order at 9:13 a.m. by Board Chair, Keith Unger.

Mr. Unger began the meeting with approval of the October 2017 minutes.

Mr. Unger and Dr. Ann Shipway, Vice President of Workforce and Engineering Technology continued the meeting by reviewing recent media articles pertaining to the Institution.

Mr. Jim Devino, Director of Security, presented the Annual Security Report. The Board approved a motion to accept the Annual Security Report.

Ms. Jackie Griggs, Academic Program Specialist, presented the Series 51 – Textbook Affordability Review, highlighting efforts to ensure textbooks are both accessible and affordable to students. The Board approved a motion to accept the Series 51 – Textbook Affordability Review.

Dr. Ann Shipway, Vice President of Workforce and Engineering Technology, began the Workforce Development report by introducing Ms. Laura Busey, Director of Workforce Operations. Ms. Busey provided an update on the partnership with the Procter & Gamble project.

Dr. Shipway continued her report by providing an update on the Morgan County Center, which is scheduled to return to normal operation Spring 2018. Dr. Shipway concluded her report with an update on the recent Higher Learning Commission offsite visit.

Ms. Leslie See, Vice President of Enrollment Management provided an Enrollment Report showing an increase in overall enrollment and full-time equivalency for the Fall 2017 term. Ms. See noted Spring 2018 enrollment is now underway and a snapshot will be provided to Board members during the December 2017 meeting.

Ms. Kristy Scarlata, Comptroller, presented the Finance Report noting financials on track with quarter projections.

Executive Session was not held. The meeting adjourned at 10:12 a.m.
