Blue Ridge CTC Board of Governors Meeting // December 13, 2017

Martinsburg, WV. Blue Ridge Community and Technical College Board of Governors met at the Main Campus in Martinsburg on Wednesday, December 13, 2017. The meeting was called to order at 12:03 pm by Board Chair, Keith Unger.

Dr. Checkovich began the meeting by introducing Ricardo Grant, Southern New Hampshire University Representative. During the Board Meeting, Blue Ridge CTC and Southern New Hampshire University signed an articulation agreement for three programs: Criminal Justice, Business and Nursing.

Mr. Unger continued the meeting by introducing Mr. Keith Novak, Principal from CliftonLarsonAllen, who presented the audit report for fiscal year 2017. Mr. Novak reported the audit uncovered no findings and no deficiencies to report.

Mr. Unger continued the meeting with approval of the November 2017 minutes.

Dr. Checkovich presented the President’s Report, highlighting recent events on campus, including the Denise Burditus Memorial Service. Dr. Checkovich concluded his report by reviewing recent media articles pertaining to the Institution.

Dr. Ann Shipway, Vice President of Workforce and Engineering Technology, presented the Workforce Development report, updating Board members on the progress of the Morgan County Center, which is scheduled to reopen Spring 2018.

Dr. Shipway continued her report with details regarding developing partnerships with area businesses. As a result of these new partnerships, several new academic programs are being organized, including Plastics Technology. Dr. Shipway concluded her report with details regarding an upcoming capital project that will examine campus facilities and room utilization.

Ms. Leslie See, Vice President of Enrollment Management provided an Enrollment Report, highlighting the strengths in enrollment for the Fall 2017 term. Ms. See concluded her report, noting full-time equivalency, high school enrollment, and third-party enrollment all increased during academic year 2017-2018.

Ms. Kristy Scarlata, Comptroller, presented the Finance Report noting financials on track with quarter projections. The Board passed a motion to approve the Finance Report.

Executive Session was not held. The meeting adjourned at 1:07 pm.
