Blue Ridge CTC Board of Governors Meeting 3/1/17

Martinsburg, WV. Blue Ridge Community and Technical College Board of Governors met at the Main Campus in Martinsburg on Wednesday, March 1, 2017. The meeting was called to order at 12 p.m. by Board Chair, Keith Unger.

Dr. Craig Miller, Chief Financial Officer introduced Mr. Keith Novak, Principal from CliftonLarsonAllen, LLP. Mr. Novak presented the Board with the FY16 Financial Audit report.

Mr. Unger continued the meeting with the approval of the February 2017 meeting minutes.

Dr. Checkovich continued the meeting with the President’s report, beginning with a review of recent news articles highlighting the institution. Dr. Checkovich concluded with a summary of recent legislative sessions in Charleston, WV.

Dr. Ann Shipway, Vice President of Workforce Engineering Technology, provided the Workforce Development report, which included an overview of the College’s upcoming Institutional Effectiveness project.

Dr. Craig Miller, Chief Financial Officer, presented an update to the rule related to business travel performed by institutional employees. This rule will complete the 30-day comment period on March 3, 2017. The Board passed a motion to approve this rule, contingent upon no further comment submissions by March 3, 2017.

Dr. Craig Miller, Chief Financial Officer, and Kristy Scarlata, Comptroller, presented the finance report with a review of the FY17 proposed budget. Dr. Miller concluded his report with a proposal of program specific fee changes for FY17. The Board passed a motion to approve the program fees for FY17.

Dr. George Perry, Vice President of Instruction, presented program reviews for 14 current academic programs. The Board will review the programs and a vote will be held at the April 2017 Board meeting.

Executive Session was held. No public vote was made. The meeting adjourned at 1:37 p.m.
