Martinsburg, WV. Blue Ridge Community and Technical College Board of Governors met at the Main Campus in Martinsburg on Wednesday, February 1, 2017. The meeting was called to order at 11:59 am by Board Chair, Keith Unger.
Mr. Unger began the meeting with the approval of the December 2016 meeting minutes.
Dr. Checkovich continued the meeting with the President’s report, beginning by updating Board members on the status of the Morgan County Center and other projects. Dr. Checkovich concluded with a review of recent news articles highlighting the Institution.
Dr. Ann Shipway, Vice President of Workforce Engineering Technology, provided the Workforce Development report, beginning with a review of the grants recently received by the Institution. Dr. Shipway concluded her report by updating Board Members on the status of the Procter and Gamble project.
Ms. Leslie See, Vice President of Enrollment Management, presented the Enrollment Report, showing strong enrollment for the spring semester. Ms. See highlighted that enrollment will continue to climb as the semester advances. Ms. See concluded her report with an update on the high school programming offered to students located in Berkeley, Jefferson and Morgan County.
Dr. Craig Miller, Chief Financial Officer, presented an official rule related to business travel performed by institutional employees. The Board passed a motion to move this rule into the 30-day comment period.
Dr. Craig Miller, Chief Financial Officer, and Kristy Scarlata, Comptroller, presented the Finance report. Dr. Miller began the finance report with an update on the official audit report, which is anticipated to be presented to Board members in an upcoming meeting. Ms. Scarlata continued the Finance report, showing strong financials on track to meet the projected budget for Fiscal Year 17. The Board passed a motion to approve the Finance Report.
Executive Session was not held. No public vote was made. The meeting adjourned at 1:17 p.m.
