Blue Ridge CTC Board of Governors Meeting 12/7/16

Martinsburg, WV. Blue Ridge Community and Technical College Board of Governors met at the Main Campus in Martinsburg on Wednesday, December 7, 2016. The meeting was called to order at 12:03 pm by Board Chair, Keith Unger.

Mr. Unger began the meeting with the approval of the November 2016 meeting minutes.

Dr. Checkovich continued the meeting with the President’s report, beginning with a review of recent news articles highlighting the Institution.

Dr. Ann Shipway, Vice President of Workforce Engineering Technology, provided the Workforce Development report, beginning with a review of the recent Merry and Bright Foundation event which was held on the Main Campus on Friday, December 2, 2016. Dr. Shipway continued her report by updating Board members on new program cohorts forming at the Morgan County Center. Dr. Shipway concluded her report with an update on the P&G project.

Dr. Craig Miller, Chief Financial Officer, introduced Ms. Brett Gallagher, Dean of the School of Professional Studies and University Transfer who provided a report regarding changes that have occurred over the last year. Ms. Gallagher provided Board members with an overview of the current School structure, academic degree and certificate programs, and student support services available.

Dr. Craig Miller, Chief Financial Officer, and Kristy Scarlata, Comptroller, presented the Finance report. Dr. Miller began the finance report with an update on the audit results. Ms. Scarlata provided Board members with an overview of the FY 17 budget, citing strong financials. The Board passed a motion to approve the Financial Report.

Executive Session was held. No public vote was made. The meeting adjourned at 1:27 p.m
