Nursing Scholarships

Blue Ridge Nursing Scholarships

For 2009-2010 we gave over $8000 of financial aid directly from the nursing program.
Some of these grants and scholarships have specific requirements such as residency. Most of them do not require special application.

If you are interested in scholarship money to use toward your nursing education. Print out the Blue Ridge Scholarship Application and submit it to Patty Woodward. If you want to receive a scholarship you must complete the FAFSA. Even if you do not qualify for government grants, most of our awards require the FAFSA to be complete
.

WV Center for Nursing Scholarships

The WV Center for Nursing provides schlolarship money to WV residents planning to work in the state for at least 2 years following graduation. Students must be in good academic standing and have completed at least 50% of their nursing curriculum. Applicants must provide 3 letters of reference: one from a current faculty member, another from the Director, and one from a current or previous employer. These scholarships are awarded by the nursing program. Additional emergency funding applications are available online from the Center for Nursing.

Valley Health Nursing Scholarships

Valley Health Systems offers a $5000 scholarship to Associate Degree students entering their 2nd year of coursework. Students who are willing to commit to working at Valley Health after graduation and must begin pursuit of a BSN within one year of graduation may apply. Specific requirements for application are included on the application. The forms and information you need to apply is available below.

Deadline is March 30, 2012.

HRSA Scholarship Program

The US Department of Health and Human Services-Health Resources Services Administration offers a nursing scholarship that pays for tuition, education-related expenses (including books, clinical supplies and laboratory fees) and a living stipend to nursing student who are committed to work for at least 2 years after graduation at a health facility with a critical shortage of nurses. Preference is based on financial need. The deadline for 2010 is May 6. Go to the HRSA scholarship site to get more information and to apply.

Jefferson County Community Educational Outreach Service Foundation Scholarship

Available to residents of Jefferson County taking health care courses . This requires a separate application that is available from Financial Aid. Scholarship requirements.
