Blue Ridge Awards Betty Pugh Memorial Scholarship
Three allied health science students receive honor

Martinsburg, West Virginia: To honor one woman's lifelong love of science and learning, the Pugh family has established the Betty Pugh Memorial Scholarship at Blue Ridge Community and Technical College. This scholarship is intended to provide disadvantaged women with the opportunity to train in an allied health science career and receive a positive educational experience.

This year's recipients were recognized at the Blue Ridge Community and Technical College's Board of Governors meeting on August 1. Recipients Donna Hare, Keana Henry, and Wendy Norris are all students in the Pharmacy Technician medical certification program. "All three are doing very well in the program, which is part of our Fast Track program," stated Dr. Carol Plautz, Dean of the Allied Health Sciences Division at Blue Ridge. "To qualify for the scholarship, students must demonstrate financial need and express their intent to use the scholarship and training as a springboard into a new career. Pharmacy Technicians are in high demand locally, so this can be a wonderful fresh start for these women."
